Background:
Background: Xanis Calnar was in his late thirties, by Earth standards, when he and his daughter Morga were captured by the conqueoring alien race known as the Destroyers (3/62). With their homeworld destroyed by said race, the two were made slaves on a mining asteroid. Xanis pushed aside any grief for his loss of his homeworld and wife. Instead, he concentrated on keeping his daughter safe and attempting to figure out how to get her away from their captors.
Months passed before the Calnars and two other allies of theirs had an opportunity to put an escape plan in motion. The four managed to escape their captors during a prisoner transport, fleeing to the nearest habitable system they could find. They ended up on Earth (2/65). After a year of adjusting to their new home and taking on more Earth-like sounding names, the four took on heroic identities (2/66). Xanis became known as Space Lord, Morga became known as Star Light, and the other two became known as Man-Wolf and Robotman. With other heroes of Earth, they formed the core of the Justice Gang(10/68). With the group, Xanis found new friends who would someday become as close as family. A year later, the Destroyers learned of these heroes of Earth and recognized the quartet who had escaped their grasps. They prepared their first of many attacks upon the Earth, but the new heroic team was able to turn them back. (continued below...) |

Star Light was killed in battle a few years later against a super-villain team called the Octagon. Despite the loss of his daughter, Xanis pursevered and became a source of support for his grandson Jonah and his son-in-law. When Robotman quit the team (1987), Xanis realized he was the last of the original four in the group and vowed to be a strong teacher and example for future generations of heroes.
Also after his daughter's death, Space Lord began to work with M.E.T.E., the US governments extraterrestial organization in Florida. Having come from an alien culture himself, he was able to fit in well with the operations. It was there he met Dr. Ellen Robinson and, after working side-by-side with her for the better part of a decade, fell in love. The two were married in 1999.
Motivation: Xanis' paternal nature for Morga tended to extend further to the rest of the Justice Gang both in its formative years and the most recent years when a new, younger generation joined the team. With patience and a level head, he easily fit into the role of teacher and confidant. Most members turn to him for his guidance and wisdom on things. In battle, he can be a fierce warrior as he relies upon his alien technology to enhance his natural skills and abilities.
