Background: Jagrinn and his brother Kardron were both considered aberrations by society on their alien homeworld. The two carried a recessive genetic trait that caused them to develop in more beastial ways (with excessively hairy bodies, sharp claws and teeth, and piercing eyes). Both were also very strong and dexterous. Still, they were run out into the wilds where they were forced to live as hunters. That is probably how they would have spent their lives had fate not intervened - When the conqueoring alien race known as the Destroyers enslaved their world. (6/61) Jagrinn tried to help those who had shunned him but only ended up being captured. Kardron was discovered too but managed to avoid enslavement by pledging to join the ranks of the enemy as an assassin.
Both were taken off-world. Jagrinn was thrown into a prison, a confinement that was slowly driving him insane. It was only the kindness of another prisoner, Morga Calnar, who managed to sooth the savage tendencies that were taking control of him (3/62). A few years passed before he and his three new allies had an opportunity to put an escape plan in motion. The four managed to escape their captors during a prisoner transport, fleeing to the nearest habitable system they could find. They ended up on Earth (2/65). Unlike the others who could easily pass for native humans, Jagrinn kept mostly to himself. He hunted wildlife to keep his predatory skills sharp. Eventually the others convinced him to join them as they took on heroic identities (2/66). Xanis Calnar became known as Space Lord, Morga Calnar became known as Star Light, and Roebrt Waestn became known as Robotman. Jagrinn took on the name of Man-Wolf. With other heroes of Earth, they formed the core of the Justice Gang(10/68). A year later, the Destroyers learned of these heroes of Earth and recognized the quartet who had escaped their grasps. They prepared their first of many attacks upon the Earth, but the new heroic team was able to turn them back. It was a few more years before Jagrinn would come face to face with his brother again (1/72). Kardron came to Earth to exact revenge on Man-Wolf and his allies. The two would fight many times over the years, with Jagrinn always besting his brother. However, in the end, Kardron succeeded and eventually killed his brother (5/78). Motivation: Because of how he grew up, Man-Wolf was very much a loner - relying upon primarily himself to succeed at whatever he needed to accomplish. As such, he also developed a strong sense of self-preservation. Even though he became involved with a team who cared very much for him (and he for them), he still often kept to the fringe of the group and kept his personal feelings and thoughts to himself. When it came to combat, he was a man of action - preferring to attack first and question later.
