Welcome to another "Enemies Revisited". This time is my adaption of the Ocelote, the feral fury from the Champions 4th Edition hardcover as rendered artistically by Pat Zircher. The character was brought during a run of my Rough Justice campaign, and I decided to link up his origin and background to some existing characters in my gameworld (thus the origin rewrite). Of course, I adjusted his stats and powers a bit just so the players couldn't refer to their blue-book and get the full lowdown on his abilities.
Background: During ancient times, Vameir was one of many magic users who communed together to improve their skills. This dark haired, bearded man was not as gifted as others but he made up for that with his determination and agressiveness. When the sorcerors were sought for enslavement, the lead wizard Gattasurzar cast their essences into gemstones and scattered them across the planet and cosmos. The gemstone containing Vameir's essence landed in a lush jungle and remained hidden for centuries.
The stone was eventually unearthed by a large ocelot, and the stone fused itself to the creature's throat. Vameir's personality was able to take over the creature, to control its movements and actions. However, he soon was frustrated by the animal's limited brain and lack of ability to communicate. The gemstone though allowed the creature to more powerful and have a greatly extended life. He spent many years hunting and killing in the jungle for his survival. Eventually, the Ocelot was captured by game hunters and kept heavily sedated while being transported across the oceans. The creature exchanged hands a few times and ended up as part of the sideshow of Red Darren's travelling circus. The once great man/beast was now a captive in a cage and gawked at by parents and children. Vameir sought freedom but was denied it by cold steel bars. Finally, a costumed figure and a woman came to his cage and freed him. While many knew the man as the Sinister Spectrum, Vameir recognized him as one of his long lost associates Setar. Once freed, the Ocelot fought at the villain's side against other costumed men and women but was once more captured. This time he was not left at the circus but instead brought to a cement cell in the Stronghold. He hungers for freedom again. Motivation: The Ocelot is a feral creature. He is motivated by primal urges: hunger, vengeance and freedom. He is loyal to those who are his allies and agressive to those who are his enemies. |
