Background: Antonio Cassanelli was born the son of prominent corporate lawyer Angelo Cassanelli. The child grew up in a rich lifestyle on the Pacific coast. A teen Antonio had a tendency to towards fast cars and fast women, always skirting the edge of trouble. The few times he crossed the line his father was there to bail him out and smooth things over. Feeling he could benefit from a bit more discipline, Angelo enrolled him in a military academy.
Antonio excelled in his new school environment and joined the Marines. It was there he learned the various arts of combat fighting and familiarity with weapons. Again, performing well, he took part in some special forces training where he learned by black ops skills. But, again, Antonio's thrill seeking desires got the better of him, and he was forced to resign from the military. Returning home, he found his mother a total wreck. His father had been found dead a week before, tossed into the ocean with a custom pair of cement shoes. Antonio soon realized that not all of his father's dealings were on the level. His father had crossed some of the criminal elements on the west coast and paid for it with his life. Antonio decided to put his talents to work by becoming a masked, killer-for-hire called the Assassin. While a lot of those who employed him were in fact the very types of men who killed his father, Antonio figured this new role would serve him two-fold: 1) he could bleed these men financial while performing jobs for them - often involving the elimination competition, others in the same business, and 2) he could gain the confidence of the bigger crime bosses in hopes to discover who had in fact been the one who had ordered his father's death. In the Spring of 1987, the Assassin was hired by a Los Angeles mob boss named Caravelli to take out a hit on the super-heroine named Night Owl. The killer got a quarter million up front and proceeded to New York City where his target currently resided. He ended up battling both the woman and her current partner the User. Leaving the later buried under rubble, he decided to fake Night Owl's death for his employers. Her beauty was enough to sway him to instead kidnap her to a villa he kept in Europe. There, he attempted to woo her. However, the User tracked them down and rescued her, forcing the Assassin to flee his private safe haven.
Motivation: Antonio grew up wanting for nothing, and as an adult he is the same way. The quickest, most thrilling way that he knows to get paid is by being a professional hit-man. He enjoys the rush, the challenge and the excitement - all which in the end provides a large payout. His other big challenge in life is the winning of the hearts of beautiful women. He isn't searching for the perfect woman for life - just the perfect one of the moment. Like anything else, it is the challenge of the conquest that ignites his passion, not a long lasting relationship. |
