Background: Rognor Tandrell is from a race of winged, nocturnal creatures in a far off-realm. When he was a young child, a sudden and violent storm came up from out of nowhere and forced he and his family to flee to their tree-dwelling. His younger sister, not a strong flier, was caught up in a wind surge and his father was forced back out to try and rescue the child. The two were obliterated by a bolt of lightning right before Rognor's eyes. The winds continued to mount, shaking the mighty tree back and forth. The heavy rains loosened the soil beneath its roots, causing the whole tree to topple. Rognor awoke after the fall to find that his mother had been crushed by some of the limbs. The boy had some scratched and aches but was physically fine for the most part. Emotionally, he was devastated and alone. A dark haired figure of a man appeared to him later that day and approached the child. He listened to Rognor's tragic tale and offered comfort and shelter. Rognor went with the man named Zandorok. Rognor was angry at the powers of nature which took his family away. Zandorok offered him a chance to control nature itself and began to instruct the child in the ways of the dark arts. Rognor returned to his home realm after years of study. His anger fueled his power and made him feared by all the other inhabitants. However, it wasn't until he saw the cruel nature of his mentor did Rognor realize that Zandorok was attempting to mold him into a dark sorcerer too. Rognor rejected his mentor and attempted to break all ties with him. Zandorok let him be for a time, having to focus his evil attentions on other matters. Then, after some time, he contacted Rognor once more and gave him a task: retrieve the child known as Matthew Bradley from the home of the Earth sorcerer called the Mystifier or face his mentor's wraith. Rognor considered the task and sent some minions to do so. This brought him into direct battle with Mystifier and some of the other Protectors. Motivation: For years, Rognor Tandrell was full of anger and grief, and he foolish transferred that into trying to control others through fear and intimidation. Now he prefers to simply brood in his mountain retreat and hone his mystical abilities. Still, vengeance burns in his heart - the original hate he had for nature as a child has been transposed to the man who tried to manipulate him. Someday he will have his revenge on Zandorok.
