Villain Files: Jake "Steel Claw" Dunbar
(under 4th Edition rules)

Background: Jake Dunbar was born in New York City in 1950, the grandson of a mobster named "Diamond" Daniel Dunbar. By the time he was in his very early teens, Jake was hanging out with the criminal element, acting as a messenger with packages and notes. He was swift and shrewd and resourceful. While he was making a good impression of those in charge, he also was taking note on how things were done. His dream was to someday be the man in charge. While in his early twenties, he dabbled in some of the protection angles and earned the nickname "the Claw" due his strong grip on his victims' shoulders.

By the time the 80's rolled around, Jake was in a pretty solid position as the right hand man to one of New York City's growing crime organizations. His boss, however, found out that Jake was up to some double-dipping on the profits and decided to teach him a lesson. He had Jake meet him at a warehouse late one night and confronted Jake about his actions. A scuffle broke out that turned into a deadly exchange. The boss managed to chop off Jake's right hand with a fireaxe. Driven by the pain of losing the hand, Jake retaliated and killed his boss. He then managed to collect his hand, dragged himself to the hospital and attempted to save what he had lost. The doctors could only stop the hemoraging and gave him heavy medication for the pain.

With his boss out of the way through circumstances no one in the organization ever discovered, Jake took over the operations. While he ran the organization, he also did research to find some way to restore his missing limb. He managed to eventually find a criminal scientist who specialized in cybernetics, and a new right hand was made. Soon, a new name was circulating - calling him "the Steel Claw".

A few years later, Steel Claw's operations were disrupted by a newcomer hero named the User. Jake was determined to stop this irritation from ruining the business he worked so hard to build. Much to his dismay, justice prevailed time and again.

After a long stretch in prison in the 90's, Jake managed to escape. His freedom didn't last too long though. He was found less than a week later, his mutliated body discarded in an alleyway. His cybernetic hand was torn from his arm and was missing.

Motivation: Jake Dunbar was a very greedy individual. He was also a man of little patience. If things were not going the way he preferred them, his temper flared and heads rolled.
