Background: Vampires have existed for many centuries. This sub-species of humans tends to thrive through transference of the condition, via an exchange of blood. The infector will first bite the victim along a main artery, draining blood from them. The victim then, in turn, will do the same to the infector - thus transferring the condition. The victim then goes into a "death-like" state for three days bfore finally rising again as a vampire.
To counter the increased strength and abilities that come with the condition, vampires also suffer from a number of weaknesses. They are susceptible to fire, holy water and direct sunlight. If staked through the heart, they immediately go into a coma-like state (0 STUN) with no recovery until the stake is removed. They can be killed permanently through decapitation, burning completely or over-exposure to sunlight (which turns them to dust). Pure vampires also do not cast reflections and are not allowed to enter private dwellings without first being invited. Motivation: The transformation ritual leaves a craving for blood that must be sated every few days. The transformation also tends to overcome weaker-willed individuals, turning them into savage creatures of the night constantly looking for their next victims upon with to feed. Stronger individuals can overcome these desires. Appearance: Due to staying out of sunlight, many vampires appear to have paler skin. Their teeth tend to have more pronounced fangs which faciliate the blood draining through a bite. |
