Villain Files: the Golden Greek
(under 4th Edition rules)

Background: In the flourishing years of the ancient civilizations in Greece, a prominent alchemist taught his talents to his only daughter Helena. She was spoiled, the only child of the couple and the apple of her father's eye. He doted on her and she ensured he showered her with lavish gifts. On her sixteenth birthday, he presented her with a golden statue of herself and, in a slip of the tongue, proclaimed her more beautiful than the godesses themselves. In retaliation, Aphrodite and Athena imprisoned Helena's soul and mind into the statue itself while her body died.

In 1976 on her travels to Greece, college graduate Monica Andropolis happened upon the statue as part of a collection on display. Because she was a direct descendent of the young girl of whom the statue was made, she felt drawn to it. It seemed to...call to her.

That night, Monica could not rest. The thought of the statue filled her every thought. She returned to the home at which she had seen the work of art, broke into the building and went to the room where the statue was. As she reached up to touch it, Helena's spirit was freed and took control of Monica's body.

As the two souls and minds merged, it was Helena's that became dominant. Her greed and tendency to have everything she wanted led her into a life of crime. This new world she found herself in offered her so many opportunities to take things. Fascinated by the "god-like" humans with special powers, she had developed a special costume that would grant her flight and energy based abilities. The media later dubbed her 'the Golden Greek' based on her accent and costume colors.

As a costumed criminal, the Golden Greek had many battles with various members of the Justice Gang over the years. In 1986, she was recruited by Madame Mammoth to be a founding member of the Octagon and later the Evil Elite. During this time, she had run ins with the young team of heroes known as the Protectors.

Motivation: The Golden Greek has Helena's thirst for wealth and power. She is very calculating and will use everything at her disposal to get what she wants.
